Taking sculpture and oil painting. Trying to explore oil a little on my own, even though my host mother would probably frown severely (if not drop unconscious) upon my using paints, oils, and thinners in her apartment. But I'm good for now, except I have no place to dry my things. I'm resorting to such foolishness as using hangers and clothespins to hang some of the smaller things in the closet, at great peril to my clothes. Tomorrow, I'll vaccuum under the closet and desk, for space that could a) be used to dry paintings and b) be inaccessible to the cat.
As for sculpture, I can't very well bring clay into the house, that would just be too much. So that's limited to the 2.5 hours a week I get in the studio.
I'm planning to do a lot more work this summer, when I'm back at Williams, and will have not only my room to work in, but a free and accessible art building within walking distance.
I'm also really itching to sew, but I can't do that either. I might spring for a sewing machine of my own this summer, and make my own dummy (as per internet recipes) to alter the many items I have in my "can't wear this, but is a pity to throw away" box.
